Grand Bear Lodge

Grammy and Gramps took the whole family to Grand Bear Lodge. It was TONS of fun. They had a merry-go-round and a few other kid rides. Emily and her cousins wanted nothing to do with the "baby" rides. They wanted to go on the BIG rides.

Emily and her cousin (who is older by just 2 weeks) rode their very first roller coaster! For the first ride, both kids went with an adult. When the adults figured out that they were not needed, the two 4-year-old's rode this roller coaster over and over again. Look! No Hands!
This was not a slow coaster. It had dips. It had turns. And it went fairly fast. We learned that these 2 children are thrill seekers!
Have you ever been on a tilt-a-world? It goes round and round and round until you feel like you are going to vomit. (Or at least that is what Jessica feels like.) Emily rode this ride 3 times in a row! Mommy and Daddy could only handle it once each. I get nauseous just thinking about it!
And if you thought the tilt-a-world was a bad spinning ride...you should see these cars. All they did was go around and around and around. But you are spinning so fast that the car goes on it's side. Emily and her 4-year old cousin LOVED this ride. It went forward spinning really fast. Then (if that wasn't enough) it went backwards spinning really fast. Unnecessary if you ask me. I got sick just watching it. Emily thought this was one of the best rides yet!
Below is (left to right) Em's older cousin, Emily, and Daddy. This ride went quickly up in the air and then suddenly dropped. It repeated several times before the ride came to an end. I was SOOOOO worried putting her on this. What if she didn't like it after drop #1? I couldn't get her off and she would be screaming...I head terrible visions of what might happen. But she LOVED it! And ended up riding it nearly 10 times! (I'm not exaggerating!)

Where: Kansas City Music Hall When: mid-February 2020 Emily's dance competition season started out strong with her team's performance at the Nexstar Dance competition in downtown Kansas City. Answered Prayers

If you read the title and were expecting something inspirational, poignant and truly spiritual... then I would lower my expectations if I were you. Although true to the title, this post will revolve around prayer. May I just first say that this post could refer to the prayers of a strung-out father and mother both of whom had a day of hell with their beloved infant, three-year-old and puppy. Their prayers were something like: "Please God remind me that I love these people and remind me FAST!" another prayer might have gone something like: " If I can just make it a few more hours, they'll all go to sleep, please Lord in Heaven let them go to sleep." And, again, true to the title those prayers were (luckily for the daughters and puppy's sake) answered. But those are not the prayers to which the post's title refers. No. Allow me to set the stage. Our last trip to Toys R Us brought wonderful learning opportunities for Emily. She had $10 of birthday money to spend on whatever she wanted. But what she wanted was $20. I was so proud of her for not throwing a fit when I said she couldn't have it. Instead we talked and we talked and we talked some more about the fact that she only had $10 not $20. It would have been much easier if I would have actually had $10 cash and she could have tried to buy the other toy, but I didn't have cash. And she knew it. "Just use your card mom" is what she said. This discussion led to her asking "how can I get more money?" And me replying, "Perhaps it is time for an allowance!" And so we started forming a plan. Emily gets paid $2.00 a week (half her age). Part of that $2.00 is doing what is expected of her as a 4 year old as part of our family.
