Our Girls

So I'm taking our oldest Girl to daycare this morning. We're in Ba's car and Aunt Jenn's CD is playing. For those that don't know, Aunt Jenn and Uncle Brady combine voltron-like to form the band Wrent. They have a CD - download it here or go to their Web site here . Shameless plug completed - on with our story. Our 2-year-old LOVES to hear her aunt and uncle sing. So we're listening to the first song "Name in Lights" (download here ) and by this time we've heard it about 8 times. One of the lyrics is "gypsy" so She asks "Daddy what's gypsy". So we talk about that for 30 seconds. The song gets to the end, Our Girl asks to hear it again. Now, I never really thought that Our Girl really listened to the lyrics of music. But then this line came again "I'm a gypsy on a mission." And I can see in the rearview mirror that Our Girl's face is lighting up. Suddenly she blurts out: "Aunt Jenn's going on a mi...

Our littlest child likes to be warm. In the hospital she had some trouble keeping her temperature up so the nurses would put warm blankets under her shirt. Even though she is now a big 12 days old, she still likes to have 2 or 3 blankets on in order to keep warm. Knowing this, we were not sure how the first bath was going to go. We made the bathroom as hot as we could (Andrew was sweating) and we made sure the bath water was a bit warmer than we would have used normally (just a bit...don't worry! We didn't cook her!) She LOVED IT! There was not one point during the bath that she cried. Big sister was a big help! She picked out the washcloth for us to use (blue - her favorite color). All cuddled up and ready for some clothes! We are counting it as a success!

Emily and Daddy made birth announcement cookies for Em to take to day-care. The cookies were shaped like a princess crown and on the packages it read "Another princess has joined our castle." Em started out in jammies, but then the flour got to be a bit much. She ended up in just her underwear. HA. And all princess cookies need sprinkles. In what color? Blue of course.

Can you tell which one is the real baby? "Heavy Baby" (our oldest child named the doll) is actually a bit bigger than the real baby:) Daddy and his littlest girl.

Daddy was SOOOO excited that mommy made a bottle. Baby had no trouble at all taking it.

Our Smallest, Newest Girl has already made several acquaintances. Only a few minutes old and she met the proud Grandmas and Grandpas Gramps multi-tasking Grammy telling our Girl how cute she is Don't mind Gramps' scowl - that's just his picture face Newest Girl, meet Grandpa Tim Ba and Grandpa seemed to smile an awful lot when they met Our Girl She met a Major Uncle and an Aunt Melissa She had a meet-and-greet with a Band (one half of the band is Our Girl's Aunt Jenn and the other half is Uncle Brady) Our Girl met two members of the rare Illini tribe, these two go by the names of Uncle Chad and Sparr Our Girl got to know Aunt Nancy and her cousin Kerry Our Girl also met our favorite Crowe, the one who bakes for us! Our Smallest Girl also got to meet one of her Cousins, who you can tell was pretty excited about meeting his new cousin Our Girl also got to meet a few more aunts - Aunt Kathy, and Aunt Mary! All-in-all it was a veritable who's who of guests who welcome...

Oldest Girl: Why does your tummy hurt? Mommy: That is where baby sister came out and it's still a bit sore. Oldest Girl: I kissed it yesterday. Didn't that make it better?

Here our some pictures of our littlest girl the first few days of her life. Just Minutes Old (Wednesday): Still on the warming bed with goop in her eyes. One Day Old (Thursday): Stretching out in a cute outfit from Aunt Tracy Two Days Old (Friday): Napping with Daddy. Three Days Old (Saturday): Coming home from the hospital day! She was telling us how excited she was to get in the carseat! :) Four Days Old (Sunday): Snoozing...again Five Days Old (Monday): Back to the hospital for a weight check. It turns out she loves the carseat!

Our Latest Girl Arrived on Wednesday. Mom and Our Littlest Girl are doing Great! Mom: This is your Baby sister ..... Big Sister: I'm cuddling little sister. I think I love her. And a pre- Baby self-portrait of the happy parents - keep in mind it's 5 am.

A Leprechaun came to visit us today. He was a nice leprechaun. He left green footprints and gold coins in his wake. But he was also a tricky leprechaun because the coins were not real - they were chocolate! Our Girl thought this was hilarious. Those leprechauns....
