Our Girls

Ed. Note: Our car broke down and so we drove Grammy's car back to our house. Our big Girl: Mommy why are you driving Grammy's Car. Mommy: Remember that our car broke and we had to get it fixed? Grammy let Mommy borrow Grammy's car Our Girl: But how will she get different places? I'm worried about her.... (taking some time to think it over) ... Our Girl: Oh I know! She'll walk. Mommy: Remember that Grammy has a little car, she can just drive that one Our Girl: No (she said with certainty) , I think she'll just walk.

This past weekend was our maiden voyage to Quincy... On the way to Quincy, Grammy, my 2 girls, and Jessica, had an excruciating, almost Chevy-Chase-in-vacation trip. There was vomit. There were fits. Keeping in mind that Jessica had about 1 hour of sleep in the past 72. I think Jessica believed that she might have been spinning through the rotating door at the vestibule of hell. Perhaps. But they made it. (I followed a few hours later after work.) Our girl got to meet many family members: Great-Grandma Betty got to hold and rock our baby for hours (literally). Needless to say, she loved it. (Great-Grandpa Dick also got to meet our little girl) Great-Aunt Nancy Uncle Jeff....What? Kristen and Derek - the newlyweds Birthday Buddy Lauren Aunt Karen Cousin Haley and Andrew And her cousin Josie got to feed her a bottle, which she thought was really cool. We stayed at Grammy's house and had a wonderful time. Below is a picture of Josie pushing our big girl in the coup. Faster Josie, fast...

Up until now, our littlest girl has been sleeping in our bedroom. It has been very convenient for me to nurse her throughout the night. Lately though, she has been going 4-5 hours during the night. Yahoo! That means a bit more sleep for me and it is time for her to move on out! We put her in her big crib in her own room between 10 and 11pm. She sleeps till about 2 or 3am. And then on a good night we don't hear from her till 7 or 8am. Sleep is a wonderful thing! I don't want to get too excited because I know how frequently infants sleep patterns change-but this is such a dramatic change (for the better) I just had to share!

"Aunt" Katie got our littlest one this hair bow that is Colt colors because her Daddy loves the Colts. The bow is almost as big as she is! Week 4 for our littlest one was a big one. She started to smile! Throughout the week, we probably only saw one purposeful smile a day (and we really had to work at it), but it was there! And it was incredibly cute!

Today was the first day I cooed! Mommy tried to get it on video so that Daddy could hear it, but she missed it. It was lots of the "oooo" sounds strung together. Other than my recent cooing, not much is new here. I am still up to my old tricks of eating, sleeping, and pooping. I LOVE to be held and cuddled. I enjoy looking at our ceiling fan for long periods of time and sometimes I smile (Grammy and Ba say it is purposeful smiling...but Mommy is not convinced yet).

We took a stroll in Shelter Gardens. Our 2 girls LOVED it.

The Easter bunny came hopping into our town on Saturday and we were able to catch him for a few minutes to take a picture. Our oldest child was not too sure about him. If you recall, she was the one who wouldn't let Santa come into our house. Santa had to send his helper 'Santa Mouse' to deliver presents. However, the Easter Bunny was a bit friendlier than Santa according to her and he could come and leave her a basket full of goodies. She told him just that:) He was also instructed to "leave some eggs for me to find". Our youngest slept through the entire experience:) Goofing off:) Checking out the bunny before she sits on his lap.

We have started up our old morning routine where everyone crawls in Mommy and Daddy's bed and snuggles for a few minutes before we get up for the day. We normally read a few books and watch the Today show. Our newest member of the family is learning this routine well. Her big sister is here to help. Big Sister to Little Sister: "Are you watching what 'Owl' Roker has to say about the weather? See those rain clouds? That means it's going to be rainy and we can't go outside when it rains."
