Things heard around our house...

All these conversations took place with our oldest child - enjoy:) Child: I love you mommy! (snuggles in tight with mommy) Mommy: I love you too! Child: Mommy... you really smell. You smell like spit up. Mommy: Sorry. I think it was your sister. Child: Daddy smells like marshmallows. He smells good. Mommy: We can't all smell good like daddy. Child: Grandpa hold Uncle Nate's hands. (She physically takes Grandpa's hand and makes him hold both of Uncle Nate's hands. ) Child: Now Grandpa, don't let go. (Grandpa and Uncle Nate look at each other trying to figure out what is going on.) Child: Ok, Now I'm coming to tickle you! Don't let go Grandpa! (And she proceeds to tickle the captive Uncle Nate until everyone was laughing.) Child: Look Mommy, I'm wearing strawberries today. Mommy: You sure are. You look cute. Child: No, I am as sweet as strawberries today. Child: I am definitely not going to choose the lion as my favorite (looking at a book of zoo animals)...

First Sister Bath - Katie 12 Weeks

Image
Today was the first time that we let the 2 girls get into the tub together for a bath. Our oldest child LOVED the experience. Our youngest didn't really mind it either:) In fact, she smiled a bunch at her silly big sister!

Penguins - 11 Weeks Old

Here is an old picture of our eldest child chatting with penguins when she was 7 weeks old. Her is our youngest at 11 weeks having a similar conversation.

A Day at the Zoo

Image
The day after the ball game we went to the St. Louis Zoo. Our big girl didn't remember her last trip there so every part of the zoo was new to her. Andrew said we had to pack a lot for a little trip to the zoo, but Mommy said she would rather be prepared:) We LOVE our new double sit and stand stroller! She decided her favorite animal was the elephants and she was on a mission to see them. We also got to see the giraffes. Little sister "saw" most of the zoo from her comfy seat in the stroller. She was such a good rider!

First Cardinals Game

Image
Our oldest girl had the choice of either going to the Cardinals game or staying at Uncle Nates house and playing with Ba. It was a VERY tough decision. In fact, she wavered back and forth right up until the bus pulled up to take us to the game. In the end, she decided to go to the Cards game. Her first look at the stadium... She was a WONDERFUL little girl at the game. She didn't really watch the game, but that was expected. She was passed to several people (we were in a group of about 20), got up to get food once (she had her first Cardinal hot dog-and loved it), and go to the bathroom once. Other than that, she just sat on either Daddy's lap or Mommy's lap. Grandpa Tim was there for some Cardinal snuggles:) Back at Uncle Nate's house with her sister...all dressed and ready to cheer on the Cards. When we asked her what her favorite part of the game was, she said "When we all got to sing Take me out to the ball game!"

Jokes

Our oldest girl loves to tell jokes. However, most of the time, they are just not funny. By not funny, I mean - REALLY not funny. Half of the time you can't even understand her. For instance, I'm sure you're familiar with this classic knock/knock joke: Knock Knock Who's There Voodoo Voodoo Who Voodoo in the Bathroom This is the kind of jokes we're dealing with. Our Oldest thinks the Voodoo joke is HILARIOUS. If you figure out why keep us posted. Today was a little different. Maybe you had to be there...but this cracked Jessica and I up. Our Child: Get Ready Daddy because this joke is going to be REALLY funny Andrew: Okay, I'm ready (eyes roll) Our Child: The Lion was eating... (dramatic pause for comedic effect) Cauliflower! Granted, it doesn't make much sense, but the sheer randomness of it cracked us up. She was so proud. "My joke made you laugh!"

More Cute Smiles - Week 10

Our littlest girl was supposed to be going to sleep for the night. (She now sleeps from 9pm to about 8-9am, WAHOO!, there is one 4am feeding in there.) We had given her a bath, gotten her pj's on, changed her diaper, read her books, nursed, and burped. Normally during the nursing she falls asleep and I just lay her down. Not tonight. I laid her in her bed, and this is what I saw: I know that you are not supposed to engage a baby at bedtime - but this was an especially cute baby that really wanted someone to talk to:) We won't make a habit of this - but Mommy really enjoyed this "conversation". She did eventually close her eyes and go back to sleep - it just took awhile.

Weekend with Ba and Grandpa - Week 9

Image
Our girls had a GREAT time at Ba and Grandpa's house even though it is under construction and was kinda a mess. Our oldest child was thrilled when Ba found some boxes of toys. It was like Christmas morning for her! Grandpa won our oldest girls heart by serving up some ice-cream cones with blue sprinkles. She thought that was pretty cool. ICE-CREAM CHEERS! Grandpa also took her on some walks around the golf course (which has a "magic" tree) and to the city park. Needless to say - she didn't care about the construction mess at the house...she was a happy camper! If you could zoom in on this picture you would notice they are eating ice-cream again! I think she had a dozen cones while she was there:) Helping Grandpa in the kitchen. She's GRANDPA'S GIRL! Ba and Grandpa have a beautiful crib...somewhere:) Since it wasn't set up, Ba created a makeshift bed for our youngest. She slept perfectly fine! Thanks for a fun weekend!

Our little girl LOVES to be talked to. Just start talking (it doesn't matter about what) and you will get a smile:)
