Shopaholic!

Image
Lately our girl has been packing enough in her cart (or car, or bus) to supply a small nation with play toys. She just keeps adding to her stack, never really unpacking. Last weekend we did not travel anywhere and really didn't do much of anything outside of the house, so our girl played A LOT in her playroom. We didn't "unpack" her car until Sunday night. We found trash, magazines, 3 pairs of shoes, one pair of slippers, a hair bow, a few books, many stuffed animals, purses, jewelry, Little Einsteins figures and MUCH MUCH more.

Not soon enough...

We are at the point where mommy is MORE than ready to have a baby. Unfortunately, the baby is very comfortable and probably won't evacuate until March 18th. That is (for all keeping track) just 2 weeks and 6 days away. The c-section is scheduled for 7:30am. "I want to kiss baby sister! She loves me! I feel her kick!" The other day, our child wanted to give baby sister some toys to play with. She lifted up my shirt and proceeded to stuff a rubber duck, a set of toy keys, a small plush frog, and a small dinosaur under my shirt. When I stood up and some of the toys fell out she said "Oh, baby sister must be done playing with these. Look mommy, she's sharing with me!"

Fun with A Cousin!

Our girl had her cousin come over and play this morning. She was SOOOOO excited that he was coming, she almost couldn't wait! I asked her what toys she wanted to share with him and she decided that she would share her Little Einsteins, rubber ducks, and a Sesame Street musical toy. She was so patient while she "taught" her cousin how to use the Sesame Street toy. She then helped him eat some Cheerios. He is 9 months old and really doesn't need help...but he was happy to eat the Cheerios our girl provided:) She is going to make a wonderful big sister!

Organizing M&M's

After lunch our girl asked to have dessert. She has quite the sweet tooth:) She picked out some Valentine mini-M&M's and dumped them all on the table. She proceeded to eat all of the red ones. I asked her what she was doing and she said she was saving the "blue ones". (For all those that don't know, her favorite color is blue and has been for the last year.) Sure enough, she was pulling all the blue ones to the side. Then she started a pile of orange, green, etc. She's an organized eater:)

Happy Valentines Day!

Here is our girl all ready to celebrate Valentines Day with her friends at school. She woke up that morning at 5:30am asking "is it time for my party?". We told her that Ms. Pat and all her friends were still sleeping and she should go back to sleep. That didn't work out for us. She did stay in her bed till 7am (the normal waking time) but she sang, played, and read books instead of slept. We are raising a party animal!

We all scream for ice-cream!

Some really nice friends of mine, called to ask if I wanted them to bring some ice-cream by the house. Now, normally, I would have LOVED some:) However, I just stuffed 3 cookies in my mouth and thought ice-cream would probably put me (and my baby in the womb) over the top. So I had to say no. My child listened to me on the phone. When I got off she asked, "Why did you say no thank you?" I told her that they offered to bring me ice-cream but I didn't want any. She then said "You say no thank you, but I say YES! Tell them YES! Tell them YES!" She went on to explain, "Look at my tummy. (as she pulls up her shirt.) It's sad. It needs ice-cream. It's hungry." It was almost too much:) I was laughing really hard. In fact, I contemplated actually calling them back to have them bring her ice-cream! Our conversation ended with lots of tickles and us both rolling on the floor. She placed her head on my large tummy to rest just as it made a gurgling sound....

Morning Reading Time

Image
Andrew went in to get our girl out of bed yesterday after she yelled "Mama! I'm awake!". When he went in, she was laying down reading (we keep the books we read at bedtime in her bed so she'll have something to do when she wakes up). "I'll be ready in 2 minutes" she said. There was no "good morning!" or, "I'm ready to get up!" Instead, it was like..."I'll be with you when I have time, but right now I'm busy." So Andrew left her room empty handed and waited for her to be "ready".

Going to California

So today we played "Going to California". A pretend adventure that seemed to last forever and we never left the playroom. Girl: Mommy you say, Let's pack! Mommy: Let's pack! Girl: No Mommy you say, Let's pack! And then you have to tell me what to pack. Mommy: Ok, pack... Girl: No Mommy, LET'S pack AUGH. Playing her way is sometimes very frustrating! But I hung in there. We never did make it to our destination. But on the way, we had to change her baby's diaper 3 or 4 times, go see a doctor (BT was sick), get gas, have the car fixed twice, stop for several bathroom breaks, and stop for a snack (which I thought was very clever of her to get a snack when she doesn't normally get one). We lost the keys once and I thought that would end the "game". But no. Instead she said, "I'm the Fairy Godmother and I'll make the car start!". And she did:) Her imagination is working overtime lately. I find it truly amazing how creative she ca...
