Our Girls

Donald is still a favorite around here. He gets rocked to sleep, fed about twice an hour, and long car rides snuggled with our baby. Here he is sharing a snack:) Our baby likes to sing him songs too... Here is a mixture of Jesus Loves Me and the ABC's.

That sneaky Easter Bunny hid our baby's basket under a blanket! He also left her music playing in the basket so that she would know where to look. Pretty smart bunny! In her basket she found an MP3 player loaded with TONS of kids "mooo-sic". It had Mickey Mouse speakers (which were a big hit). The bunny also left some snacks, a puzzle, a few pairs of fun socks (Elmo is a new favorite of hers...although she has never watched Sesame Street???), sidewalk chalk, crayons, and a Cardinals picture book (I think that Easter bunny had someone else in mind for that book!). She was very sedate looking through her basket. She wasn't quite sure what to think I guess. She had been playing with her basket for about 2 weeks and nothing new ever appeared in it until now... These video's are longer than the ones we normally post - I hope they work:)

As we were leaving church, our baby told anyone and everyone who would listen "Happy Easter!". Then I tried to get in on tape when we got home...no luck. However, we did capture her telling her baby to have a happy Easter:) Here she is wearing her BEAUTIFUL Easter dress. Jessica told her that she looked very pretty and she said "NO, beautiful". So from then on out Jessica made sure to use the term "Beautiful":)

We celebrated Jesus' rising one day early this year with Andrew's side of the family. We had a wonderful meal, an egg hunt, and Grammy and Gramps brought some very fun Easter surprises. Our little girl was worn out after that big day:) It took her awhile to get going collecting the eggs. She wanted to stop and open and close each egg that she found. Eventually she got the hang of it and was using her elbows to fend off cousins trying to get her eggs. Grammy and Gramps brought fun outside toys:) And a Sit and Spin!!!! Oh what fun!

"Daddy Dance?" is the latest question our baby poses to Andrew at least 3 times a day. Our baby LOVES the dips and twirls:)

Here are a few shots of our girl wearing Jessica-crafted pigtails. She pulls off the pigtail look, but I don't know if it's going to catch fire across the nation. Here she is sitting and probably day-dreaming about the Little People. And by Little People I'm not using a politically correct term for the height impaired. Nor am I talking about St. Patrick's Day Sprites. No. Our Girl is Obsessed with the Fisher Price Little People. They are semi-obese school children with abnormally large hands and seem to go on a number of totally unsupervised adventures in Discovery City. She watches their DVDs. She plays with the toys. She loves Little People. And one Little Person in particular. Is it Maggie, the brainy one with the glasses? Or Eddie the blond kid with the incredibly intelligent pet frog? No. It's not even the sickeningly sweet Sonia Lee. Our Girl's favorite is none other than Michael. He appears on the screen and she screams his name. Michael seems an odd pick...

"Whoa! Easter Eggs!" is what our baby said over and over again while dyeing. She liked stirring up the dye and commenting on how hot the eggs were (they really weren't that hot!). Maybe next year she'll be a bit more artistic. :) She was sad to see it all end.

Our baby came down with a bad case of the flu. Here she is in her green jammies with a cute St. Pat's Day hair bow. All dressed up and no where to go:( She has said some very funny things lately... here is a sampling: 1. G-pa was going to take her for a walk outside. Jessica repeated about 10 times "no street" to our baby to make sure that she wouldn't go where she wasn't supposed to. Our baby then picks up her doll (named Baby) and says "Baby, no street". Then she hold up Donald Duck and Baby and says " Baby, tell Donald Duck" 2. Our baby's Baby has been learning lots of new things. The other day our baby held her doll up to the window and said "Baby see rain! Rain wet!" 3. When Jessica was driving in the car and about to make a wrong turn she jerked the steering wheel back straight (just a slight jerk...she was being safe all the while!). Our baby in the back seat yelled "HOLD ON!" 4. When she was turning around in cir...

Last Friday was a big day in our little girls world. She learned (with great accuracy) how to climb out of her crib. Jessica was down stairs cleaning up the kitchen when she heard the upstairs gate swing and hit the wall (it wasn't latched because up until this point - our baby was stuck in her bed when we put her there). Jessica flew up the stairs thinking that someone was in the house trying to get her baby. She was greeted at the top of the stairs by a little 21 pound someone who said: "Good Morning to you! I'm AWAKE!" and she said it with such a big grin on her face...bursting with pride. Jessica thought her daughters skills were a fluke and that she couldn't do it again - Wrong! Jessica put her in bed and within seconds she swung her leg over the side and then shimmied down for a soft, quiet landing. It was great fun for our baby. Not so much for Jessica. One day this last week it was beautiful outside. Absolutely beautiful. Our baby and I stayed outside the ENTIRE day. She went in only to nap and have her diaper changed. We played in the sandbox filled with rice and corn. She swung on the swing. We blew bubbles, drew with chalk on the patio, read books, kicked the ball, went down the slide, and watched the birds. Now if only we could have more days like that one... ...but no, we live in Missouri. They predict snow for this weekend. AUGH!!!

Our baby enjoys singing LOTS. Here she is singing one of her favorite songs Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. However, the words at the end are "Wiggle, wiggle, little star"...not quite sure where she got that one:) But it works for her!

Our girl's crib is becoming a crowded place. We've always had the Purple Baby (or as I'd like to say Baby #1), and the Duck (known only as "Duck" - an item that Jessica detests by the way "not cute enough"). Now she's started to add to the rotation. So at bedtime she has Duck, Baby #1, Paci(fier), blanket, music on ....and now we have Donald Duck! and Baby #2 (although Baby#2 is becoming number one in our girl's heart). But that's not all! She also must have the tiny, tiny, brown, knit blanket for Donald Duck and Baby #2. It's getting out of hand. As you can see in the picture, she sleeps just fine amid the throng. She does have some OCD tendencies (these all come from Jessica). Notice how all of the Babies are on one side of the bed and all of the Ducks are on the other. Separate but equal apparently. Ducks have no civil rights. Here's the bottom line, she sleeps. And as long as she sleeps we might invite a flock of ducks into her be...

Aunt Mary was a life saver the other day when Jessica got sick. She came over and took care of our baby all morning. That job description entailed: playing Little People for countless hours, changing a particularly stinky diaper, and going to Tumble Bee class. Thanks Aunt Mary!!!!!
