Sick on St. Pat's Day

Our baby came down with a bad case of the flu. Here she is in her green jammies with a cute St. Pat's Day hair bow. All dressed up and no where to go:(She has said some very funny things lately... here is a sampling:

1. G-pa was going to take her for a walk outside. Jessica repeated about 10 times "no street" to our baby to make sure that she wouldn't go where she wasn't supposed to. Our baby then picks up her doll (named Baby) and says "Baby, no street". Then she hold up Donald Duck and Baby and says " Baby, tell Donald Duck"

2. Our baby's Baby has been learning lots of new things. The other day our baby held her doll up to the window and said "Baby see rain! Rain wet!"

3. When Jessica was driving in the car and about to make a wrong turn she jerked the steering wheel back straight (just a slight jerk...she was being safe all the while!). Our baby in the back seat yelled "HOLD ON!"

4. When she was turning around in circles in the kitchen she stopped (obviously dizzy) and said "Oh so funny!"

5. Today (while still sick) she came to me and said "Baby watch movie?" What a clever way to get a movie turned on for her:)

She is going to outsmart Andrew and I VERY soon. We are worried:)

Where: Kansas City Music Hall When: mid-February 2020 Emily's dance competition season started out strong with her team's performance at the Nexstar Dance competition in downtown Kansas City. Little did we know that this would be the last competition of the season, and there wouldn't be much dancing period for a loooong time.  Emily and her long-time dance partner in crime Kylie And we even had time to cross the border into Kansas (booo) and see Emily's friend Kate in action at a volleyball tournament.

Answered Prayers

If you read the title and were expecting something inspirational, poignant and truly spiritual... then I would lower my expectations if I were you. Although true to the title, this post will revolve around prayer. May I just first say that this post could refer to the prayers of a strung-out father and mother both of whom had a day of hell with their beloved infant, three-year-old and puppy. Their prayers were something like: "Please God remind me that I love these people and remind me FAST!" another prayer might have gone something like: " If I can just make it a few more hours, they'll all go to sleep, please Lord in Heaven let them go to sleep." And, again, true to the title those prayers were (luckily for the daughters and puppy's sake) answered. But those are not the prayers to which the post's title refers. No. Allow me to set the stage. Our last trip to Toys R Us brought wonderful learning opportunities for Emily. She had $10 of birthday money to spend on whatever she wanted. But what she wanted was $20. I was so proud of her for not throwing a fit when I said she couldn't have it. Instead we talked and we talked and we talked some more about the fact that she only had $10 not $20. It would have been much easier if I would have actually had $10 cash and she could have tried to buy the other toy, but I didn't have cash. And she knew it. "Just use your card mom" is what she said. This discussion led to her asking "how can I get more money?" And me replying, "Perhaps it is time for an allowance!" And so we started forming a plan. Emily gets paid $2.00 a week (half her age). Part of that $2.00 is doing what is expected of her as a 4 year old as part of our family.
