Tonight, pre-bath, we had this discussion Emily: Daddy do you know what Grabiole (I'm spelling that phonetically) means Me: Grabiole? Emily: Yeah, Grabiole, do you know what that word means? Me: No, are you sure it's a word? Emily:It's a word, and I'll tell you what it means if you don't know Me: I don't know. Emily: Grabiole means, grabbing something out of somebody else's hands, if you do that you're being Grabiole; also Grabiole means something that's not nice. Me: I just learned a new word. How do you spell it? Emily: G-R-H-I-O-P, Grabiole, you know? Me: And it means to grab something out of somebody's hands? Today's conversation when Daddy got home: Daddy: Em where are you? Em: In my room putting money in my bank. Daddy: Where did you get that money? Em: From your cup in your room. Daddy: Are you taking my money? Em: Daddy, can I borrow your money? Daddy: You don't really want to borrow it...you want to have it. Em: I won't take all of it. Just a little bit of it. Can I have just a little bit of your money? I'll leave you these 2 (pennies). And so it begins. Coins now. Dollars later. How much longer can we hold off on giving her a credit card? Print Page

Jessica and I recently played a game entitled "How Would You Describe Our Week in Two Words." While there were numerous entries, the consensus pick was: "Swine Flu". The dreaded and porcine H1N1 came calling at our house last week. Emily kicked off the festivities with a 104 degree temperature on Tuesday. Today is Sunday and while she was fever free Fri/Sat, Emily is still recovering. This is Emily on Swine Flu: When Emily got sick we sent Katie away for a spa vacation in lovely Quincy. My parents graciously took Katie in and she had a delightful stay from Wednesday to Saturday. She could have come home on Saturday because Emily was not contagious.... but she Actually came home because she was sick. The doc-in-a-box thought that Katie just had an earache, which is a diagnosis we would love to believe. But Katie has been feverish and as immobile as Emily was. We're taking Katie to a real doctor tomorrow, but we think that it will probably confirm our suspicions ...
