Imaginary Friends Update

Don't worry. BT is still a main player in our everyday lives. He eats, plays, sings, and sometimes causes a few problems at least twice a day. HOWEVER, he has moved out of our house and now lives by himself. He is 4 years old (according to our girl) and can drive over to our house whenever she wants him to. He meets us at the library, Hy-Vee, the mall...pretty much wherever we go, he goes:)

His friends, (Peh-peh, Beh, and Peptos) are no longer mentioned by name. She simply refers to them as BT's friends. Sometimes they come along, but most of the time it is just BT.

Andrew and I are very happy to only have one imaginary friend to care for and keep track of. It is a lot of work!

Also in the "imaginary" world of our girl, we now have imaginary play toys. You may recognize a few of these words...but they are not what you think they are: collector, nervil, corn-cob pipe, and cop. As far as we know here are the definitions of these imaginary play toys.

Collector: Everyone has their own and it is always the person's favorite color. It can do whatever you want it to do. For example, my mom's (her Grandma) collector can rub her back, but not her feet. Andrew's collector is grey (his favorite color) and it sings to him. There's also a Collector song, but so far the only lyrics are: We need Col- lect- or.

Nervil: This is more of a flavoring word- we have no idea what it is or what it means. Sometimes it's an adjective, sometimes it's a noun. "You've got to get nervil or you'll be in trouble"; or "Let's take the nervil collector and see how nervil it is."

Corn-cob-pipe: She has no idea what a real corn-cob-pipe really is, but chooses to sing about it and insert it into her jokes. Random things can be put in the corn-cob pipe, you can eat off of a corn-cob pipe and sometimes you can eat the corn-cob pipe itself. They can also be worn as hats.

Cop: No we are not talking about the police. A cop is a silly word (according to our girl) that denotes something crazy. Sometimes it's an exclamation: Cop! Sometimes it's a kind of pronoun: you're being a silly cop.

There are imaginary people, she goes to imaginary locations and meets more imaginary people, she's building an imaginary language - if she were 52 instead of 2 I think we'd be talking civil commitment.

It's all a part of life at our house where most of the goings on are really just going on in our little girl's head.
