Our Girls

On Saturday, the whole crew went out to the Stephens Stables (open to the public Monday-Saturday) and visited with the horses. It was Awesome and both girls (and parents for that matter) ended up having a great time. Emily started out a little timid, though. In these first two pictures you can see that she decided she needed to be held in order to get close to the horses. Katie wasn't sure what to make of the horses at first either. She alternated between wary looks and a beaming grin. Emily eventually found her stable-legs so to speak and began boldly introducing herself to each horse at their stall. Print Page

This morning Katie and Em decided that they were Astronauts! Emily concocted some kind of elaborate story about their mission in space. However, the important thing in playing astronauts is to put a clear storage container on your head. Without a helmet you are not playing astronauts. Katie was in on the space mission as well. Part of the mission was chasing around the house. Don't worry, they were wearing protective headgear. Print Page

Katie and Emily were having a great time playing together this week. No one is sure what exactly they were doing on this particular morning, but whatever it was it was cute. Emily sporting the ragged pigtail and jammies look. Katie went with the bow the size of her head. Katie's getting ready to talk to her favorite television dragon. He says "Blah" and she giggles nonstop and keeps repeating "Blah". Print Page

The toys had begun to outnumber the people by about 100 to 1. Something had to give. Early this summer we made the decision to move on and our house is now listed with the most dynamic team of realtors in Mid-Missouri (possibly the world). We haven't found a new location yet, but we'll ratchet up the search once our house sells. We did look at a house with a Media Room the other day (dreams of Colts and Mizzou football games danced in my head). It was time for a sleepover with all Em's friends from Miss Pat's. They all dressed up as characters from the Magic School Bus. Emily was Phoebe. Here she is with Ms. Frizzle. Got to love the wig. Here is a bunch of the sleepover crew. This was the perfect end to the Magic School Bus summer- every day Miss Frizzle would visit, we would read Magic School Bus stories and then do a science experiment just like the Magic School Bus kids!!! Emily thought this was incredible - and also was never really sure who Miss Frizzle was, or how she showed up at Miss Pat's. Print Page

This summer as the heat in Mid-Missouri approached temperatures normally seen on the sun, we headed to the pool. Emily's favorite pool lately - and Kate's too - is a kids water park called Pirate's Landing, which is "home to the Little Mate's Cove". Emily had a blast running and splashing and sliding, but even Katie got in on the fun. She went down a slide with Em once (total and epic disaster, luckily no cpr was needed). But Katie is fearless and so she got back up and slid again (this time with Daddy as a chaperone). We played with a Little Mermaid frisbee and Katie would say "Arioioiole", which I think means Ariel. Eventually Katie became so addicted to the slides and sprinklers that she would grab Daddy's hand and drag him to whatever she thought she needed. Print Page
