Our Girls

Kate has discovered her toes! She started out by just grabbing them and holding onto them. Then it progressed to putting them in her mouth. She actually sucks on her big toe like others suck on their thumbs. Very lady-like pose Ms. Kate! She is such a happy baby. She always has an open mouth smile for anyone who will talk to her. And if it is not her toes in her mouth, it is her fingers. Here she only has 2 fingers in, but she has been known to put all 10 in before! Another Milestone for Week 18: Rolling over! She flips from back to tummy with ease. She picks up her feet, flops them to the side, and then arches her back. Somehow this combination lands her on her tummy. Don't ask me to demonstrate! (Because I am late posting about week 18, I can also add that she flips from tummy to back in week 20. Also in week 20 she gets up on all 4's and rocks back and forth. I have threatened to push her down (to stunt the gross motor development) but I haven't done so yet. I am allo...

Emily went to her first ever sleep over party at Ms. Pat's. It was a Blue's Clues Party and boy was she excited about that. Mommy and Daddy were so nervous for her - but Em acted like she did this every day. Here is a picture of Emily and her cousin acting silly the morning after the sleep over. Ms. Pat the Brave We just love Ms. Pat. When we asked her why she did this sleep over twice a year, she replied, "I get to learn so many new and different things about the kids when I have them all night. It makes caring for them in the day that much easier." She truely loves our children. And for that we are very thankful. Kate did not get to sleep over at Pat's house. She went with Mommy and Daddy out on a date night. She slept through most of it - which Mommy and Daddy enjoyed:) She is getting so good at grabbing and holding onto toys. Look at those little fingers! She even passed a toy from her right hand to her left hand the other day. Every day she learns something...

For Daddy's birthday Emily went shopping at Kohls to find the perfect gift. She looked at blue shirts, blue shorts, a blue hat (with a team logo on it that Mommy didn't recognize), a blue pot (yes a pot), and many other blue items. She finally settled on... A Princess Coloring Book. Why? Here was her reasoning to me: "Mommy, Daddy really loves to play Princess with me. He loves to dress up and wear crowns. He will LOVE this book about Princesses. So I had to let her get it for him. She was really thinking of him first of course. Also, the crown was made by the one and only Em. Then Daddy decided he wanted to go on a walk in Rock Bridge Park. Kate enjoyed the front carrier and cooed and talked to us the entire walk. Emily was off on her own (we had to struggle to keep up). She found a sign that said "3". "It's for me! I'm 3!" Em taking a quick break by some trees.

As you can see by the 17 posts that follow, we have a new hard drive! And it works! I can retrieve my pictures and post them. I haven't added text to all the posts yet, and believe it or not, there are still more pictures to post. (It's been quite awhile since we have posted pictures!) We will continue to update the blog as I find time:) For now, enjoy these 17 posts:)

One of Emily's gifts for her birthday was a Snow White costume. She wore it for the 2 days following her birthday party. We had to address her as Snow White. She wore the dress to nap, eat in, and (as you will see in the last picture) to do yard work. Snow White is pretty handy to have around! "Daddy, you can be the prince and we can get married and then we can live happily ever after. Ok? Ok. " Snow White helping out with yard work. The gloves make a good addition, don't they? PS: As a side note, she also got a Cinderella costume for her birthday. I don't know how we missed those pictures, but she also wore that one for about 2 days after the Snow White one. We live in a world of princesses!

This first picture of Emily only begins to show how surprised she was when a bunch of spanish speaking men came to sing to her at Chevy's. After she got over the inital shock, she was all smiles. Katelyn wanted to be part of the action too:)
