Our Girls

Our little girl has always enjoyed being read to and lately she has started to read to us. Which we find VERY exciting:) (She is not really reading yet...but she has some parts memorized!) Her favorite books right now are "Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs", "5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed", "We're Going On a Bear Hunt", "Moo Baa La La La", "Splish Splash", and "Can You Hop?". In this video you will see her reading "Can You Hop?" And then it starts "Oh My Dinosaurs" (as she calls it) but the video doesn't include a reading of that one. (I LOVE the way she says that title though...dinosaur might be the longest word she says.) Hopefully I'll catch a reading of that book on video soon. Also as a side note, our baby has been putting 2 words together for a long time (a very cool trick!). And now she has started to combine 3 words and sometimes even 4! It was supposed to be a nice day out so we ventured to the park. However, it was not a nice day so we didn't stay long. Chad and Sarah both took turns taking our baby down the slide and catching her. She had a blast for the few minutes we were there.

Our friends from St. Louis came to visit the other day and brought our baby a belated x-mas gift. Our baby answered the door when they arrived (with Mommy right behind her) and was scared because it was this giant horse looking right at her! However, she soon grew to love the horse! She now wakes up every day and asks "Horsey? Horsey?" Andrew thinks that she is training to become a jockey. She pulls her knees up tight and wants to go real fast! She also cooks for the horse (who knew horseys like waffles and peas?). Below she just finished giving the horsey lots of kisses and tickles. The horse still doesn't have a name that she likes. Chad named him Harry. Andrew named him Rudy. Our baby still calls him Horsey. Poor horse. He is probably having an identity crisis. Here is a video taken the first day she rode Horsey. What a fun gift!!!!!

For those of you who hadn't heard, we have been without Internet for a very long while. Mediacom says it is their problem and that they are "working on it"... but we have decided to jump ship. We are done with you Mediacom! Our regular-blog-checkers can't wait another day to see more pictures of our baby! :) So we now have an internet connection that is guaranteed to work day and night and we can upload pictures till our hearts content:) We apologize for the inconvenience. We know that it is troubling to check the site and not see new pictures of our baby. Hopefully it won't happen again!

Here in MO the weather can't decide which season it is in. On Saturday our baby was wearing a sweater and jeans (no jacket) and was almost too warm. A day later??? It is close to zero. She went walking on the trail with her baby and Minnie. She walked for almost 1/2 mile! That is a long way for little legs:) Every now and then she would stop and check on her babies. Give them a kiss and then keep pushing. I guess the baby and Minnie got a little fussy so she got them out to carry them for awhile. Note to all mothers: this is how NOT to carry your babies:) On the way back, she rode on daddy's shoulders and mommy carried the stroller:) What a wonderful way to spend a beautiful day!

Our baby's hair is getting long enough that Jessica is able to start playing with it on a daily basis:) Here she is pictured with piggy tails. (Daddy calls them horns.) Here are her first French Braid pig tails:) It actually stayed in all day!

And what would a trip to the House of Mouse be like without the Rides. We were a little unsure if our girl would be in for the thrills and magic of Disney rides. We had nothing to fear. We started her out with tame stuff. To the left you can see her piloting the Indy Cars. Jessica let our girl take the wheel. Andrew was the navigator. Later she took on Peter Pan's Flight and the Pooh ride - all of which she enjoyed, but wasn't wild over. Then we took it up a notch. Here's Andrew and our girl riding Aladdin's flying carpets in Adventureland. Every time the ride could go higher she would say "High?" And then laugh and smile when the ride gained altitude. And it's possible we rode Dumbo 146 times. Maybe not that many, but she loved it. Who wouldn't? It's an elephant that flies!
