Campin' in a Cabin (Molly week 26)

This last weekend we went to Mark Twain lake and "camped" with andrew's side of the family. The dad's took the kids fishing

Both the boy cousins caught fish...our girls were not as successful:(

We had a quick picnic lunch.

The adults cooked delicious hot dogs, s'mores, and pie-iron sandwiches. The children really didn't have the patience to stand in the heat and wait for things to cook. Luckily there was a playground really close to our cabin.

We took a little paddleboat ride where Andrew and I started in the front seats. About every 2 minutes the kids (all 4 of them) wanted to switch seats. The song "sit down you're rockin' the boat" was our theme song:)

Each night the 2 kindergarten cousins performed a light show. Highly entertaining!

The last day we rented a pontoon boat. Emily said that was the best part of the mini-vacation. Katie said her favorite part was the playground and the chocolate s'mores:)

Where: Kansas City Music Hall When: mid-February 2020 Emily's dance competition season started out strong with her team's performance at the Nexstar Dance competition in downtown Kansas City. Answered Prayers

If you read the title and were expecting something inspirational, poignant and truly spiritual... then I would lower my expectations if I were you. Although true to the title, this post will revolve around prayer. May I just first say that this post could refer to the prayers of a strung-out father and mother both of whom had a day of hell with their beloved infant, three-year-old and puppy. Their prayers were something like: "Please God remind me that I love these people and remind me FAST!" another prayer might have gone something like: " If I can just make it a few more hours, they'll all go to sleep, please Lord in Heaven let them go to sleep." And, again, true to the title those prayers were (luckily for the daughters and puppy's sake) answered. But those are not the prayers to which the post's title refers. No. Allow me to set the stage. Our last trip to Toys R Us brought wonderful learning opportunities for Emily. She had $10 of birthday money to spend on whatever she wanted. But what she wanted was $20. I was so proud of her for not throwing a fit when I said she couldn't have it. Instead we talked and we talked and we talked some more about the fact that she only had $10 not $20. It would have been much easier if I would have actually had $10 cash and she could have tried to buy the other toy, but I didn't have cash. And she knew it. "Just use your card mom" is what she said. This discussion led to her asking "how can I get more money?" And me replying, "Perhaps it is time for an allowance!" And so we started forming a plan. Emily gets paid $2.00 a week (half her age). Part of that $2.00 is doing what is expected of her as a 4 year old as part of our family.
