Our Fun trip to Kansas City - Kate 14 weeks

We took a few days and road-tripped to Kansas City. It was a great mini-vacation! The first stop was a children's museum. Emily played "store".
She played both the clerk checking out and the shopper.
She climbed through some fun structures (like an indoor playground).
One of her favorite things in the hallway of the museum was this collection of ducks.
Kate was just happy to be there.
Kate enjoyed being carried from room to room at the Children's museum.
Emily's favorite room was the "ball room". She collected lots of golf balls and then put them down ramps, in funnels, and rolled them down huge roller coasters.


After we finished at the museum we went to the best restaurant in KC. It is called Fritz's:) At this restaurant you order from your booth by calling in your order on the phone. Emily was in charge of that. Then a train that runs along the ceiling delivers food to each table. When it is your food it is dropped off and lowered to your table. Emily LOVED this! We will definately be going back.


The second day we were in Kansas City Emily played in the fountains at Crown Center. She also went to Kaledescope (where she made her fun wand) and ate at Crayola Cafe.

We took Ayla there recently too. She loved the trains and would say, "Choo Choo" each time a train went by. How much fun!

Where: Kansas City Music Hall When: mid-February 2020 Emily's dance competition season started out strong with her team's performance at the Nexstar Dance competition in downtown Kansas City. Answered Prayers

If you read the title and were expecting something inspirational, poignant and truly spiritual... then I would lower my expectations if I were you. Although true to the title, this post will revolve around prayer. May I just first say that this post could refer to the prayers of a strung-out father and mother both of whom had a day of hell with their beloved infant, three-year-old and puppy. Their prayers were something like: "Please God remind me that I love these people and remind me FAST!" another prayer might have gone something like: " If I can just make it a few more hours, they'll all go to sleep, please Lord in Heaven let them go to sleep." And, again, true to the title those prayers were (luckily for the daughters and puppy's sake) answered. But those are not the prayers to which the post's title refers. No. Allow me to set the stage. Our last trip to Toys R Us brought wonderful learning opportunities for Emily. She had $10 of birthday money to spend on whatever she wanted. But what she wanted was $20. I was so proud of her for not throwing a fit when I said she couldn't have it. Instead we talked and we talked and we talked some more about the fact that she only had $10 not $20. It would have been much easier if I would have actually had $10 cash and she could have tried to buy the other toy, but I didn't have cash. And she knew it. "Just use your card mom" is what she said. This discussion led to her asking "how can I get more money?" And me replying, "Perhaps it is time for an allowance!" And so we started forming a plan. Emily gets paid $2.00 a week (half her age). Part of that $2.00 is doing what is expected of her as a 4 year old as part of our family.
